  WHY YOU SHOULD JOIN NHB OF IMA   OUR EVENTS
 

FORMATION

The NHB was born in the year 1987 on 1st April. Necessitated at the time by the three fold increase in the Nursing Home Municipal Taxation. Executive Committee Members of IMA who came to Madras and successfully defended the increasing taxation. We found that the Government withdrew the increase in taxation our representation we thought these problems will recur and IMA should have an exclusive body to represent Nursing Home.

AIM OF IMA NHB

The aim of forming the Association will be to bring in the Private Nursing Homes and Hospitals under one head, especially Small and Medium Hospitals. All the activities of NHB shall be in coordination and in concurrence of the mother body IMA TNSB of which it shall function as a wing. Nursing Home Board is functioning as a separate wing of IMA Tamil Nadu State. Dealing all the problems of Nursing Home owners. Most of the problems occur at the Nursing Homes.

ACTIVITIES

1.ISSUES RELATED TO HOSPITALS

IMA NHB is involved to discuss its member hospitals day-to-day problems, impart the knowledge about Rules and Regulations governing the Hospitals, discuss the problems with the officials for smooth conduct of the Hospitals, discuss with the Politicians and Law makers about the Rules and Regulations and day-to-day problems, so that these things are taken care of when legislation is made, formulate strategies to Regularize and Standardize the Hospitals needs and their functions, consolidate the hospitals into one group of a business group so that members have a forum to represent their grievances in the most professional manner and meet periodically and discuss the current issues that affect the members not only among themselves but also with concerned officials by inviting their participation. In short to address to all the problems of the hospitals and take it to the concerned platforms for smooth and proper running of hospitals.

2. IMA NHB ZONAL MEET

IMA NHB is regularly conducting Zonal Meet every three months and discussing various current issues that are related to the Nursing Homes and Medical Profession.

3. NHB EXPRESS

Releasing journal of NHB EXPRESS once in three months, covering all the events and messages from Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer. Also enlightening about the current issues and forthcoming meetings and updating relevant issues related to Nursing Homes.

ACTION ON QUACKS

Indian Medical Association – Nursing Home Board taking stubborn steps to eradicate the “Quacks” in Tamilnadu State. In this aspect, IMA NHB thank the Government of Tamilnadu for the co-operation.

ON THE INSURANCE SECTOR

1. IRDA

The apex body of our country is regulating the insurance. The IMA NHB has been taken into confidence and several important issues are being discussed.

2. STAR HEALTH INSURANCE

IMA NHB has tied up with Star Health Insurance for a Unique Rates to various procedures that are provided by the Medical Practitioners, which are applicable to all members’ hospitals invariably. The package rates are achieved by several negotiations by IMA NHB. Empanelment is given to all NHB Members immediately.

3. NEW PACKAGE RATES AND SUGGESTIONS ON CMCHIS

IMA NHB already sent the New Revised Package Rates for New Chief Ministers Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme (CMCHIS), asking for 25% increase in all the categories. IMA NHB is very keenly perusing the Tamil Nadu Health Systems Project in this aspect. Also, asked Tamil Nadu Health Systems Project to include New Procedures.

NABH ACCREDITATION

IMA NHB is giving guidance and guidelines materials to its member hospitals towards obtaining the NABH Entry Level Accreditation. IMA NHB conducted SENZITIZATON PROGRAMME ON ENTRY LEVEL NABH ACCREDITATION CUM INTERACTIVE SESSION at various districts like Thanjavur, Erode, Trichy and Coimbatore in Tamilnadu. IMA NHB also conducted Hands on Field Training Programme for Trainers of the Training at Marthandam and Vellore. Member Hospitals who attended these programmes had gained versatile knowledge about NABH Accreditation. There are several hospitals under the fold of IMA NHB and undergoing accreditation process.

TAMILNADU POLLUTION CONTROL BOARD

IMA NHB has taken care of interest of the Small and Medium Hospitals. The problems are increasing. Recently, the issue with the Pollution Control Board is going with the National Green Tribunal – South Zone at Chennai. There are 123 Hospitals were given Show Cause Notice from the Pollution Control Board for not taking consent for Air and Water Effluents at Chennai, Cuddalore, Tiruvallur and Kanchipuram Districts. This later on taken by the National Green Tribunal Court – South Zone. IMA NHB implicated in the case in front of National Green Tribunal to safeguard the interest of those hospitals from the penal action, which would amounting to closer of the Hospitals. Due of our repeated requests and intimation, there are 90 Hospitals applied for consent for air and water effluents with Pollution Control Board and rest of the Hospitals are in the process of doing so. Members concerned on the appeal, have to apply or renew the authorization and consent with Pollution Control Board immediately. We already had 4 hearings at the Tribunal. We have efficiently tackled this case with our inputs. Our President Elect, Dr. Ravisankar presented at the court on every hearing. Due to our timely legal action, the penal action by the National Green Tribunal Court has been averted. This is the one of the achievements of our Association. If individual Hospitals fight this case at National Green Tribunal, the voice may be not heard as we have done collectively from our association.

PROVISION OF RAMP FACILITY

IMA NHB had enlightened to its member hospitals about the Government of Tamilnadu, Health and Family Welfare (E2) Department Letter (Ms) No. 211/E2/2016 dated 30.08.2016; provision of Ramp Facility to be made in all hospitals is mandatory. Hence IMA NHB requested its member hospitals to comply with this and make sure that the Ramp Facility is provided in their hospital. IMA NHB asked its member hospitals to display the Fire Evacuation Plan in all the floors of their hospitals and necessary signage postings of Fire Exit mark to be made available in English and Tamil feasibly. Also, insisted to display a board furnishing the details of Fire Extinguishers, Fire Safety Measures and Escape Routes provided in the hospitals. Hospitals should have the practice of conducting mock drills once in every 6 months regarding Fire Safety Programme. Wherever the hospital building is fully glassed, minimum of two large ‘louvered windows’ with adequate safety provision are to be provided in each floor. This provision is to be made in all hospitals within 6 months.

CALIBRATION OF INSTRUMENTS

Indian Medical Association Nursing Home Board Tamil Nadu State Branch is taking care of the interest of its members, also helping them to improve the standards and protecting from various issues. In order to maintain the equipments properly, IMA NHB Tamil Nadu along with Anna University doing calibration of instruments at a very nominal fee and issue certificate, which can be used for Insurance, Accreditation and other Legal Issues. The Calibration of Instruments was conducted by IMA NHB along with Anna University at Erode, Coimbatore, Madurai and Chennai.

UNICEF Programme

IMA NHB along with UNICEF is conducting Sensitisation Programme at various districts in Tamilnadu on Current Guidelines and Protocols in Maternal, New Born & Child Health Care; thereby creating awareness among public.

FIXATION OF WAGES FOR SMALL AND MEDIUM HOSPITALS

IMA NHB is a member in this Committee in fixing the Minimum Wages. A separate G.O. has been passed for this. A state wide survey has been conducted for this purpose. We coordinate and cooperated with this High Power Committee. IMA NHB has dealt this issue with Deputy Commissioner of Labour – 1, Teynampet, Chennai on many occasions and attended the final meeting to review the Wages for Paramedical Persons and Junior Doctors. Due to its long persuasion, the wages were made in to 3 slabs instead of one. Also, the Basic and DA slabs were reduced.

IMA NHB has formulated a very beautiful website to help its member hospitals to know about the day-to-day issues related to hospitals, new Government Orders, forthcoming events and various things that are related to Nursing Homes.

WHATS APP

IMA NHB has introduced Whats App system in the State Level and Branch Level to share the information and pictures that are related to Nursing Homes instantly.

IMA NHB – CHAPTER

There are about 15 chapters have been inaugurated and functioning very well in several branches to help the members.
